Kevin Lewis, Tyler and Katy Jermann, Meghan Peyton to Compete at USA 15k Championships

Minneapolis/St. Paul – March 5, 2019 – Four Team USA Minnesota distance runners – Kevin Lewis, Tyler and Katy Jermann, Meghan Peyton - will compete in the USATF 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 9.  The championships are hosted by the annual Gate River Run with the elite women starting at 7:54 a.m. and the elite men and the rest of the 15k field of over 14,000 runners beginning at 8:00 a.m. (Eastern time).

In addition to the prize purse, the race features an equalizer bonus of $5,000 with the women starting 6 minutes before the men.  This is the 42nd edition of the Gate River Run which starts and finishes at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

Lewis will be making his third appearance at the USA 15k Championships having finished 12th last year in 45:51.  Katy Jermann also finished 12th in the 2018 race with a time of 54:12.  Tyler Jermann will be making his first appearance at the 15k – he most recently posted a personal best time of 2:13:29 at the Houston Marathon in January.

Peyton is no stranger to Jacksonville.  She raced in the event from 2009-2014 and again in 2017.  She has a best in the 15k of 50:44 and has finished as high as eighth in the championships.

O’Gara’s Irish Run 8k

Dakotah Lindwurm will defend her title at the O’Gara’s Irish Run 8k in St. Paul on March 9.  The race is the site of the USATF Minnesota 8k Championships where Lindwurm won the women’s race last year in a time of 28:19.  The 8k starts at 10:00 a.m.

Road to Gold Results

At the Road to Gold 8.2 Mile race in Atlanta on March 2, Katy Jermann finished in fourth place in the women’s field with a time of 44:55 and Meghan Peyton was 14th in 45:50.  In the men’s race, Danny Docherty placed 16th in 39:44 and Tyler Jermann was 18th in 39:52.

The Jermann’s and Peyton ran the race as a tune-up for the USATF 15k Championships which will be held on March 9 in Jacksonville.  All four runners welcomed the opportunity to get a preview of the course for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials which will be held in Atlanta on Feb. 29 next year.
