She was also a standout performer on the track finishing third in the 1600 and second in the 3200 at the 2015 Wisconsin D1 State Track & Field meet.

Annie continued her running career at Iowa State University. She was able to secure All-American status as a Cyclone crossing the line at the NCAA D1 Cross Country Championships in 34th. On the track, she scored big points for her team at the 2018 Big 12 Outdoor Track Championships where she was second in the 10,000 and third in the 5000m. Annie has taken the professional running world by storm since joining the team in September of 2019. Moving up to the marathon distance at the 2021 NYC Marathon, she ran the 4th fastest debut ever for a U.S. woman (2:26:18). Since then, her marathon performances have continued to stun with a 10th place finish at the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials (2:27:56) and an 8th place finish at the 2025 Boston Marathon (2:23:21). She also shows impressive range, with top three finishes from the half marathon (back-to-back wins at the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon) down to the 5K.

On November, 2nd 2025, Annie finished 5th at the TCS New York City Marathon. Her time of 2:24:12 is the second fastest time ever by an American woman on the NYC course.
