Funniest Mid-Race Thought: During a cross country race in college I had a teammate still in his sweatpants when the gun went off and I thought about how quickly he probably had to take off his pants before starting the race.

Braxton grew up in West Fargo, North Dakota, and attended West Fargo High School. As a prep, he posted personal best times of 1:57.14 (800m) and 4:32.99 (1600). He placed 3rd at the State Meet in the 800m and was a multiple time all-conference runner in both track and cross country.

Braxton donned his collegiate uniform as an MSU-Moorhead Dragon in the fall of 2019. By the time he graduated, he was a four-time NCAA DII All-American, and a five-time NSIC Conference Champion. As a senior, was honored as both the NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and the MSUM Athlete of the Year. He set school records in the 800m (indoors and outdoors) and the 600m, and finished his collegiate career with personal bests of 1:49.24 (800m), 1:18.52 (600m) and 3:54.51 (1500m).

Braxton has been an 800 meter specialist since joining Minnesota Distance Elite in August 2024. In his first season, he posted consistent results at 1:50 or below in eight of his nine performances at the distance. He was also able to drop his mile personal best by 16 seconds, placing third in the Macklind Mile in a time of 4:00. He plans to continue his efforts in the middle distances in the seasons to come.
