Achievements

2023 - TC 5k Champion

2023 - Project 13.1, 2nd

JP grew up in Texas and Ohio, and graduated from University School in Chardon, OH. He set school records in the 3200m and 4x800m relay, placed 8th in the state cross country meet, and as high as 4th in the state championship 3200m, which he ran three times. He was a prep All-American in the 5000m indoors. His high school personal bests included 4:19 in the 1600m and 9:04 in the 3200m.

 

JP attended William & Mary University in Williamsburg, VA, where he studied Government. He won Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championships in cross country, the 5000m and 10,000m, as well as IC4A Indoor Championships in the 3000m and 5000m. His personal bests at William & Mary included 8:03 in the 3000m and 13:48 in the 5000m.

 

After William & Mary, JP went on to Syracuse University, where he studied law and earned a J.D. On the track, he placed 10th at the NCAA East Regionals, earning a berth to Nationals, where he placed 21st. He placed 4th in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in the Indoor 5000m, and outdoors, he was 2nd in the 10,000m and 10th in the 5000m. He improved his personal best in the 10,000m to 28:35. In cross country, he was 8th in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.

 

Since completing his eligibility in 2022, JP has tested the waters of road racing, running 48:20 at the 2022 Twin Cities 10 Mile and 1:02:50 for the half marathon at Project 13.1 in Rocklin, NY. The half marathon time qualified him for the 2024 USA Olympic Trials Marathon, where he plans to compete. He will be joining Minnesota Distance Elite in September of 2023.
