JP grew up in Texas and Ohio, graduating from University School in Chardon, OH in 2016. He placed 8th in the state cross country meet and as high as 4th in the state track championship 3200m, which he ran three times. He was also a prep All-American in the 5000m indoors. He set school records in the 3200m and 4x800m relay and his high school personal bests included 4:19 in the 1600m and 9:04 in the 3200m.

JP attended William & Mary University in Williamsburg, VA for his undergraduate degree where he won CAA Conference Championships in cross country, the 5000m and 10,000m, as well as IC4A Indoor Championships in the 3000m and 5000m. After William & Mary, JP continued his eligibility at Syracuse University, where he placed as high as 8th in the NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships. On the track, he placed 10th at the NCAA East Regionals in the 10,000m, earning a berth to Nationals, where he placed 21st. Before graduating with his J.D. he improved his personal best in the 10,000m to 28:35.

Since completing his eligibility in 2022, JP has tested the waters of road racing. In 2023 he ran 1:02:50 for the half marathon at Project 13.1 in Rocklin, NY, which qualified him for the 2024 USA Olympic Trials Marathon. He officially joined Minnesota Distance Elite in September of 2023 and hit the ground running with an 8th place finish at the USATF Club Cross Country Championships. In 2025 he took 5th at Grandma’s Marathon in a PR of 2:14:13. He has had success on both the roads and the track and will continue chasing goals in both disciplines.
