Emily is a born and raised Michigander. She was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track at Negaunee High School where she set school records in the 800, 1600, 3200, and 4X800m relay. She was named the UP Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and racked up UP championship titles in almost every race distance she ran. She was recruited out of high school with PRs of 18:31 (5K), 11:09 (3200m), 5:15 (1600), and 2:22 (800).

Emily then joined the Central Michigan Chippewas, where she quickly found success on the course and the oval. Her freshman year she competed well through cross country before dropping her 5K time by over a minute during indoor track. Over the next two years she continued to drop time in all her events while representing her team well at the conference level both athletically and academically. As a senior, Emily qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the steeplechase, finishing 11th and becoming an All-American. She completed her collegiate eligibility with 5 conference titles, the first women’s individual MAC Cross Country Champion in CMU history, 7 time school record breaker, and MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Steeplechase Record holder.

Emily joins Minnesota Distance Elite with big goals in the steeple and great potential in mid-distances on and off the track.
