Minneapolis/St. Paul – Jan. 14, 2020 – Minnesota Distance Elite – previously known as Team USA Minnesota – will send eight of its distance runners to compete in the 18th annual Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Jan. 19. The race, which is a World Athletic Gold Label event, will start at 7:00 a.m.
In addition, the Houston Marathon Foundation has renewed its long-time sponsorship of the training group, which has been competing in Houston since the early 2000’s both in the marathon and half marathon. This year, seven of the athletes are using the race as a final tune-up for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials which will be held on Feb. 29 in Atlanta and one will be making her debut in the distance.
Competing in the women’s half marathon field will be Katy Jermann, Dakotah Lindwurm, Meghan Peyton and Annie Frisbie. Jermann has a best in the half of 1:10:27, Lindwurm has posted 1:13:39 and Peyton has run 1:13:56 plus all three have qualified for the Marathon Trials. Frisbie, who has a best of 54:00 in the 10 mile, will be making her debut in the half marathon at Houston.
Four Minnesota Distance Elite men will be among the international and U.S. competitors in the half marathon field with an eye toward improving upon their 1:03 bests. Joel Reichow has run 1:03:24 in the half, Kevin Lewis has a best of 1:03:26, Tyler Jermann has posted 1:03:31, and Danny Docherty has a mark of 1:03:47 in the half marathon. All four have qualifiers for the Marathon Trials.
