Minneapolis/St. Paul – June 24, 2019 – The Team USA Minnesota distance runners had an amazing weekend in Duluth with Katy Jermann winning the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, Dakotah Lindwurm finishing fourth in Grandma’s Marathon, along with Tyler Jermann and Danny Docherty placing fourth and sixth respectively in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon men’s field.
Both races were held on Saturday, June 22, on a near perfect morning for running with temperatures in the low 50s, sunny skies and a slight tailwind. The half marathon started at 6:15 a.m. and the marathon began at 7:45 a.m.
Katy Jermann posted 1:10:27 in the half marathon, which was a personal best for her (previous was 1:12:11) as well as a Team USA Minnesota record for women in the half marathon. In addition, to date she has run the second fastest half marathon time by a U.S. woman this year.
Also in the half marathon, Tyler Jermann made a big jump in his personal best by finishing in 1:03:31 (previous was 1:05:16), while Danny Docherty was close behind in 1:03:47 which was a personal record as well (previous was 1:04:09).
In Grandma’s Marathon, Dakotah Lindwurm set out to complete her first marathon and also to get the ‘A’ qualifying standard of 2:37 or better. She accomplished both goals by finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:34:02.
With Lindwurm’s performance at Grandma’s Marathon, Team USA Minnesota has now qualified six runners for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials that will be held in Atlanta on Feb. 29. The runners are Katy Jermann, Dakotah Lindwurm, Meghan Peyton, Tyler Jermann, Danny Docherty and Kevin Lewis.
