Katy Jermann 14th in a PR of 2:31,Tyler Jermann Finishes 18th at TCS New York City Marathon 11/3

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Nov. 4 – At the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 3, Team USA Minnesota’s Katy Jermann placed 14th overall in the women’s professional field in a personal best time of 2:31:55 (previous best was 2:33:41) and Tyler Jermann finished 18th in the professional men’s field in 2:15:38.  The 49th NYC Marathon set a new race and world record of 53,627 finishers in a marathon on a near perfect day for running.

Katy Jermann was also the fifth American female finisher in New York and was competing in just her second marathon, having debuted in the distance last January at the Houston Marathon.  “There was incredible crowd support, so much love and so many beautiful views,” she said on her Facebook post after the race.  “I set out to find my limits and overcome them.  I absolutely did that.  I’m thankful to have made it to the start line healthy and even more thankful to have made it to the finish line.”

Tyler Jermann was the sixth American in the professional men’s field and also ran his second fastest marathon (his best is 2:13:29 which he set at Houston last January).  He has run a number of marathons, including the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and has placed in the top 10 at Twin Cities, Grandma’s, Pittsburgh and Houston.

“What an experience,” said Tyler in an Instagram post after the race.  “The crowds and the energy were incredible on the streets of New York.  It’s really unlike any other marathon I’ve experienced.  I didn’t execute my race plan exactly as I would have liked, as I took it out a bit too conservative and didn’t give myself a chance to be in it.  But that being said, I learned a ton about the course, and stayed strong all the way through and into Central Park.”

Next up for the husband and wife duo will be the Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Jan. 19 followed by the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta on Feb. 29.
