Minneapolis/St. Paul – June 18, 2019 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners will head north to Duluth from the Twin Cities to compete in either Grandma’s Marathon or the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon during the 43rd annual Grandma’s Marathon weekend. The half marathon starts at 6:15 a.m. followed by the marathon at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 22.
Dakotah Lindwurm will compete in Grandma’s Marathon and will be looking to obtain a U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier of 2:45 or better. This spring, in preparation for Grandma’s, Lindwurm has set personal bests at distances ranging from the 8k up through 25k. She posted 33:42 at the Get in Gear 10k in April and followed that race up with a fifth place finish at the USA 25k Championships in May with a time of 1:28:01. She also clocked a 1:13:39 half marathon split at the 25k race.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon competitors include Katy Jermann, Meghan Peyton, Danny Docherty and Tyler Jermann. All four athletes already have their U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers and are looking to improve their half marathon times.
Katy Jermann has a best of 1:12:11 in the distance which she set at the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon last year. Peyton has a best of 1:13:56 in the half.
Docherty has run a personal best of 1:04:09 in the half marathon which he posted in Duluth last year as well. Tyler Jermann has run 1:05:16.
